IT'S MORE THAN BASKETBALL
The proven reality: through our successful programs, several players achieved admission to schools they would not otherwise have gotten into without the exposure, skills and maturity they achieved with us. The lessons go beyond the court; in truth, we use a basketball to gain the players' attention and then teach more than basketball and the players teach each other within their peer group - on just about every topic and course subject. It's all about conveying our focus and priority on Rules # 1 & 2, knowing any time is the right time and the activity matters not. It is never more evident than during preparation for final or holding our traditional Thanksgiving chili competition, the only time we ever judge anything.
COACHES
It starts with coaching, including basketball on the court but certainly not limited to just that.

Harvey Rubin began what has become the Academic Basketball Club twelve years ago and has developed a program measuring success with the growth and development of the players each year. The path began with the re-establishment of a travel program in the City of Stamford and progressed into AAU and has led to relationships with several hundred college coaches as it was realized, the ultimate goal of the student-athlete playing AAU basketball is to earn a college uniform and continue playing as they continue their education. While maintaining a competitive level on the court, the emphasis on working with players excelling in the classroom has been the hallmark of the Academic Basketball Club (information can be found through the link at the top of this page) and five classes of student-athletes have completed the program's 17u Teams with almost every player (including every player in the last three years) earning an offer of a college uniform, in most cases multiple offers. A graduate of Pace University where he set an NCAA record for the most games serving as the official scorer of a basketball game while an undergraduate, Harvey was actively involved with recruiting immediately upon graduation and has applied this experience to the benefit of ABC players and now the clients of D3Recruiting to Earn A College Uniform. Professionally, Harvey is an entrepreneurial consultant serving the sports and television industries and is involved with a number of start-up projects.
